insect cards for sale

i make insect drawings, paintings and cards. the 10cmx10cm cards are for sale in the royal birmingham society of artists shop, in birmingham’s jewellery quarter, and also in a beautiful shop in north london, second nature. Drawing I like. Housework I don’t. But this project started with paying better attention to the creatures that collect inside my house, on my window sill. an intricate thing of beauty which died, trapped in the window. i admit i felt a bit trapped by ‘the house’ at the time. over the years I have built a collection of these drawings and watercolours, with focus in on the small and detailed, a small moment in a larger study. each one is completely unique. It’s as if they die in their own way too: as if some went loudly with plenty of banging against the glass and some just drifted away in their sleep. i prefer to draw from life (after death) but i have done a few from an image, such as the sussex moth and the queen bee.
