Gemma Ince

freelance graphic designer / art director. analogue (human-made) digital. words and typography are everything. sometimes illustration, collage, photography. brand identities: are fun to do, small or big, collaborative, always give meaning and purpose to an organisation. communities are the beating heart. All the work is aiming for a more beautiful and healthy world.

I have worked as a tutor and lecturer since 2009. I currently work at Birmingham City University 4 days per week – teaching undergraduate designers how to think differently, develop confidence, be invested in coming up with lots of good ideas, to collaborate and mix their media. I encourage the students I work with to develop their unique design approach and an opinion of their own. And have some techniques for that. I also encourage thoughtful design – and for reasons beyond simply spewing things out into the world for cold hard money. i have also been a visiting lecturer at Central saint martins and University of Derby.
