I worked on this spring festival over quite a few years. caldmore (pronounced car-more – but you only know this if you live in walsall) has connected me to lots of walsall’s creative people over the years. it was also a fantastic brief – to have a celebration of culture and unite poeple of all nations and cultures in this area of walsall which is as multi-cultural as areas come, and a little crazy at times (perfect for me – you see?). above, a more sensible version of the design made it onto a balloon one year, held by my grubby model (who had kicked off his wellies by this point in true festival style). this child is now nearly an adult and The festival no longer runs but it gave birth to a sister project and another i regularly and truly love to work on – the caldmore community garden.
